REACTIVITY GROUP CLASS
A small group. Room to learn.
Practicing around other dogs can be difficult when you can’t control who appears or how close they come. This small-group class offers planned exercises and guidance to help you and your dog practice with more space and predictability.
Over six weeks, you’ll work on reading your dog’s responses, creating distance, and navigating around other dogs. With a maximum of four dogs, we’ll use spacing and breaks to support each team. There are no required greetings or play.
We’ll talk about your dog’s needs and whether a group setting is a suitable next step.
Looking for a place to practice?
You may have started building skills on quieter walks but want guidance using them around other dogs. A small group offers planned opportunities to practice, with support as you decide what your dog needs.
➜ You’d like to practice around other dogs without relying on chance encounters.
➜ Your dog can work at a distance, but you’re unsure what to do next.
➜ You want help noticing when your dog is comfortable and when they need more space.
➜ You’d like practical exercises to build on between classes.
Your dog doesn’t need to greet other dogs or enjoy playing with them to take part. We’ll use the Discovery Call to discuss whether a group setting is suitable or whether private or semi-private support would be a better starting point.
Learning together, with room for each dog
Being in the same class doesn’t mean every dog needs to work at the same distance or pace. We’ll use planned exercises, individual working spaces, and breaks to help each team participate without requiring greetings or close interactions.
I’ll guide you through the exercises and help you notice when to continue, create more space, or pause. We’ll use positive reinforcement to practice the skills you want to carry into everyday walks.
The goal isn’t to get every dog walking shoulder to shoulder. It’s to help you understand your dog’s responses and feel more prepared to navigate being around other dogs.
What we work on together
Class exercises focus on practical skills for navigating life around other dogs. Each team will practice at a suitable distance, with adjustments as needed.
Reading Your Dog’s Responses
Practice noticing changes in body language and attention. We’ll use those observations to decide when to continue, make an exercise easier, or take a break.
Creating Space
Work on choosing a comfortable starting position, moving away, and using turns to give your dog more room. You’ll practice making these choices before an encounter feels too close.
Putting Skills Together
Combine the skills in planned walking exercises as your dog is ready. We’ll discuss how to adapt your practice for everyday walks, where you have less control over what happens.
Noticing and Moving On
Help your dog practice noticing another dog, turning their attention away, and continuing with you. We’ll work in small steps, without asking for greetings or constant eye contact.
Kind words from owners:
How the class unfolds
The class meets for six 60-minute sessions, with a maximum of four dogs. Before enrolling, we’ll talk about your dog’s needs and whether a group setting is a suitable next step.
Start with a Discovery Call
We’ll begin with a free 15-minute phone call to discuss your dog’s reactions around other dogs, your goals, and any safety concerns. If a group setting isn’t the right fit, we can talk about private or semi-private support instead.
Step 1
Build skills across six weeks
You’ll practice planned exercises with guidance on spacing, timing, and reading your dog’s responses. We’ll build on the skills as each team is ready, with options to make exercises easier or take a break.
Step 2
Take the practice into daily life
We’ll discuss ways to use the exercises between classes and continue after the course ends. Graduates can also be considered for individual semi-private reactivity lessons, depending on readiness, a compatible partner, and availability.
Step 3

Is the reactivity group class a good fit?
This class is for dogs with mild to moderate reactivity who can participate in a small group with enough space. We’ll use your Discovery Call to discuss whether the setting is suitable before you enroll.
This class may be right for you if:
✔︎ Your dog barks or lunges around other dogs but can engage with you when given enough distance.
✔︎ Your dog can practice with other dogs roughly 30 feet away, without needing closer interactions.
✔︎ You’d like guided practice in a group of no more than four dogs.
✔︎ You can attend the six-week course and practice between classes.
A more individual setting may be a better starting point if:
✔︎ Your dog has a bite history.
✔︎ Your dog needs more than 30 feet of distance to participate comfortably.
✔︎ Being around several dogs is too difficult, even with spacing and breaks.
✔︎ Your main concerns involve stranger-directed aggression, handling, or safety around children.
Answers to your questions
-
A free 15-minute Discovery Call is required before enrollment. We’ll discuss your dog’s reactions, your goals, and whether the group setting is suitable. A separate paid consultation isn’t required for dogs approved for this class.
-
Your dog should be able to practice with other dogs roughly 30 feet away and engage with you at that distance. We’ll talk through this during your Discovery Call. That distance is a starting guideline, not the only factor in deciding whether the class is appropriate.
-
No greetings or play are required. Each team will have its own working space, and the exercises focus on navigating around other dogs rather than interacting with them.
-
We’ll create more distance, adjust the exercise, or take a break. A reaction doesn’t mean you or your dog have failed. If the group setting remains too difficult, we’ll discuss a more suitable way to continue training.
-
This group class isn’t suitable for dogs with a bite history. Please mention any bites during your Discovery Call so we can discuss whether individual support or a referral would be more appropriate.
-
The course offers guided practice and skills to keep building, not a guaranteed outcome within six weeks. We’ll review how things are going and discuss further support if needed.
-
We’ll use positive reinforcement, planned setups, and adjustments to distance and difficulty. Prong collars, choke chains, and e-collars aren’t used in class, and dogs won’t be required to approach one another.
-
Yes. Graduates can be considered for semi-private reactivity lessons at $95 per dog-and-handler team for 60 minutes, without purchasing another package. Placement depends on your dog’s readiness, a compatible partner, and availability.
